Biography

Zeina Badran was born in Tripoli and worked as a self-taught artist for several years before studying fine art at the Lebanese American University. She continued her studies at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA) where she took courses in lithography, etching and silkscreen printing – techniques which inform her current practice. Her work is an ongoing experimentation with different mediums, in which she blurs the boundaries between painting and printmaking. Her work has won her several awards, including the Spirit of Excellence prize at the Lebanese American University, Fine Arts Department (2002) and the first prize from the Ministry of Culture for painting at the Visual Art Forum at UNESCO, Beirut. She has participated in several group exhibitions at Galerie Janine Rubeiz and Salon D’Automne at the Nicholas Sursock Museum and in 2014 she held a solo exhibition at Art on 56th gallery in Beirut. Her work is held in several private and public collections in France, Saudi Arabia and the Armenian Parliament collection in Yervan. The artist continues to live and work in Beirut.
