Joseph Harb

Joseph Harb was born in Beirut in 1964 and studied at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA) and the Lebanese University. His paintings of seemingly disparate objects that borrow techniques from collage point to Harb’s desire to blur the formal artistic boundaries in his abstract mixed media works.  The inclusion of painted images layered on his canvases invites the viewer to consider the relationship between image, form, and composition. He has been based in the United States since 2000 but continues to exhibit regularly in Lebanon with Galerie Janine Rubeiz, where his work is permanently exhibited, and the Sursock Museum.  Since 1987, he has participated in international solo and group exhibitions, including the Katzen Art Centre and the American University, Washington DC (201), and at numerous art fairs including Abu Dhabi, Art Dubai, and Beirut Art Fair.
