Ghassan Nana

Born in Homs in 1953, Ghassan Nana studied at the Fine Arts Center in Homs and the University of Damascus. His luminous, delicate oil paintings are executed in a classical impressionist style, capturing soothing pastoral scenes that possess a haunting and ethereal quality.  In one painting, a crowd gathered to celebrate a wedding is distinguished by their contrasting garments defined by a burst of color; in another, a lady in a long white gown stands beside a pianist playing a grand piano–moments that could exist in any era and cultural context. Nana has participated in numerous exhibitions including in Syria, Cairo, Russia, Bulgaria and Sweden, and London, and in 2010 Participated in making a Mural representing the Syrian revolution martyrs in Sweida, Syria.
