Biography
Abdullah Murad was born in Homs in 1944 and studied Fine Arts at the University of Damascus. His experimental paintings and drawings are influenced by the fauvist colour palette and the abstract expressionist movement. His intricate and experimental paintings feature arabesque concepts and the inclusion of mixed-media such as collage and cuts outs, that add textual layers and asymmetrical compositions. Murad’s work has been exhibited in numerous international group and solo shows in Syria, Lebanon, France, Turkey, Bulgaria, Switzerland, UK and the Gulf. Several of his works have also been acquired by public and private collections including in France, Germany, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Turkey, Bahrain, Kuwait and the Sharjah Museum in the United Arab Emirates.
